So whether you’re a newbie or a crafting guru, you’re sure to find a pumpkin project that is perfect for you! Read on to discover a few of our favorite pumpkin crafts you can do to decorate your home.

1. Halloween Diamond Painting

Have you tried diamond painting yet? If not, now is a great time to give it a shot. And even if you are already familiar with this trendy craft, the cool, cozy days and evenings of fall are perfect for working on your next project. Complete a Halloween diamond painting or two to adorn your walls and you will surely have the sparkliest fall decor on the block!

Diamond painting takes only minutes to learn but is a hobby you can enjoy for a lifetime. Halloween themed kits featuring pumpkins are perfect for this time of year, but there are designs available for every season. There are also lots of non-seasonal designs that are perfect for year-round display or gift giving.

A diamond painting kit comes with everything you need to create a breathtaking mosaic masterpiece. Whether you choose a kit featuring a pumpkin and adorable dragons or something a bit spookier, you’re sure to find one that suits your taste. And once you’ve mastered this easy hobby, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner.

2. Chalk Painted Pumpkins

Transform faux pumpkins into beautiful home decor using chalk paint. Add a shimmery finish to them for extra shine.

Supplies:

  • Foam pumpkins
  • Chalk paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Metallic spray paint
  • Shimmery spray paint

Load a paintbrush with chalk paint and paint all around the pumpkins, leaving a dry spot on each to create a spot on which to rest them as they dry. Once dry, touch up the unpainted spots. You will likely need to apply at least two coats of paint, especially if you are working with orange or dark-colored pumpkins. One coat may be sufficient if you are using white pumpkins.

Once the pumpkins are completely dry, if you want, you can spray them with a light coat of shimmery paint. Carefully remove the stems and use the metallic spray paint on them to add a touch of glam. Insert the stems back into the pumpkins once dry. If you’d like, add a coat of clear spray paint to seal your pumpkins. (This last step is especially important if you plan to display them outside.)

3. Glitter Pumpkins

Why stop at a little shimmer when you can make a totally blinged-out pumpkin with a bit of adhesive and some glitter? Glitter pumpkins are a real show-stopper; and if you’re an avid crafter, you probably already have most of the supplies you need.

Supplies:

  • Foam pumpkin
  • Spray adhesive
  • Colored glitter
  • Newspaper or craft paper

Cover your work surface with newspaper or craft paper. Spray adhesive on the top half of the pumpkin, avoiding the stem (unless you want a sparkly stem). Sprinkle glitter over the adhesive and then let dry. Once dry, pick the pumpkin up and shake it over your craft paper/newspaper to remove excess glitter. Fold the paper into a funnel and use it to pour the glitter back into the original container.

Next, place the pumpkin back on the paper and tip it to the side. Spray adhesive on the bottom half and then sprinkle more glitter on until the bottom half of the pumpkin is coated. Let dry, shake off the excess glitter and “voila”! You’ve got one eye-catching pop of autumn bling.

4. Knit Pumpkin

Knit pumpkins are easy to make, and they’re a fun way to add a touch of softness to your fall decor. And, unlike real pumpkins, you never have to worry about them going bad! Whether you make one to add to your other fall decor or knit up an entire patch worth of pumpkins, this project is a great way to create some cozy fall vibes in your home.

As long as you have a few basic knitting skills (or would be willing to learn them), this project is very beginner-friendly. It is knit flat. Casting on and off, garter stitch and purling are the only skills you need. You should also understand basic knitting abbreviations and terms and be comfortable reading knitting patterns.

Supplies:

  • Bulky yarn in your favorite fall colors (or other colors of your choosing)
  • S. 15 (10 mm) straight knitting needles
  • Small twigs or cinnamon sticks to use as stems
  • Knit pumpkin pattern
  1. Alcohol Ink Pumpkins

There’s no rule stating that you have to decorate using traditional fall colors. In fact, using pastel pink, mint green and teal hues in fall and Halloween decor has become pretty popular in the last few years. Try adding a pop of vibrant color to your home by making these alcohol ink pumpkins. With faux white pumpkins, alcohol inks in your choice of colors, rubbing alcohol and a few other simple supplies, you can create incredible fall decorations in all of your favorite colors.
